Abstract

The machine is used for sorting cheques and similar documents and comprises several units connected in line. Each unit comprises compartments and each of the latter provides a choice between two different routes (10-11, 10-12). Each compartment deals with one line of cheques, issued by initially passing over a reader operating a microprocessor. The cheques (10) enter between a set of three rollers (1, i, 3), driven by a reversible motor (7). Two paths are defined, that accepting the cheque depending on the motor rotation. The documents may then be stacked (19) or pass on for further processing.
