Abstract

1386442 Gas burners WORTH ENG WORKS Ltd 2 Jan 1973 [24 Feb 1972] 8660/72 Heading F4T A gas burner comprises a tubular casing having a rectangular sectioned bottom part and a triangular sectioned upper part forming a ridged burner plate which is provided with a series of spaced transverse slots 5, 6 forming main flameports, auxiliary flameports 17 being provided to give auxiliary upwardly and inwardly directed flames adapted to suppress divergence of the main flames. Each main flame port comprises a slit 5 in the ridge of the burner plate joined at each end to a wider slot 6. The auxiliary flameports 17 may comprise narrower extensions of slots 5 or apertures adjacent the outer ends thereof. Strips 18 spaced from the burner plate surfaces by scalloped ribs 19 deflect the auxiliary flames. A filter screen 14 is spaced from the inner surfaces of the roof by pressed-in dimples 15. The outlet end of a venturi tube 9 may have a U-shaped or semi-cylindrical restrictor placed adjacent thereto. Access for cleaning the interior of the casing is provided by a removable cover on an end wall 7.
