Abstract

1334468 Gas burners D V GREAVES 15 Sept 1972 [31 Jan 1972] 4436/72 Addition to 1265759 Heading F4T The burner claimed in the Specification 1,265,759 is provided with air baffles extending laterally from the edge of a burner element 1 adjacent to gas outlet slits 3 and defining air flow openings 5. The openings 5 are preferably aligned with the gas outlets 3. The baffles may be formed by spaced tongues 6 integral with the edge of one of the sheet metal walls defining the burner element, each tongue having a portion 7 bent over the other sheet metal wall and a further portion 4 extending outwardly to form a baffle located below the level of the gas outlet slits. The tips 8 of the tongues may be bent downwardly and joined by an integral strip 9. In a modification the baffles comprise baffle pieces (4) aligned with spacers (2) separating the slits (3) and where the burner comprises several burner elements the pieces 4 extend between the elements. The burner may be a spiral burner in which case the baffle is of spiral shape. A sheet of metal gauze may be located in each burner element to retard the flow of gas.
