Abstract

1505293 Oil-gas separator METALLWERK BIEBIGHAUSER KG AUF AKTIEN 3 April 1975 [6 April 1974] 13598/75 Heading BIT Entrained oil drops are removed from a gas stream by upward passage from inlet 3 to outlet 2a through a housing comprising two cup-like halves 1, 2 which are secured together, clamping two oppositely dished baffles 4, 5 between opposed circumferential edges and/or shoulders, the baffles creating turbulence to separate out the oil. In Fig. 5 baffle 5 is a perforated plate (Figs. 6, 7 not shown), and baffle 4 has four U-shaped slits enabling the central section to be displaced downwards (Figs. 8, 9 not shown). Upper housing part 2 has a widened end which fits over part 1 and is soldered or welded thereto. Inlet tube 3 is extended into the housing and retained by a downturned tongue 3a, providing a slot through which separated oil drains back into tube 3. In Figs. 1-4 (not shown) the housing parts have outwardly extending flanges which fit, one over the other, enabling the parts to be swaged together. The baffles are simpler in construction than those in Fig. 5.
