Description

SPECIFICATION Cooking stove This invention relates to cooking stoves and more particularly to a stove of simplified construction specifically designed for ease of assembly from a kit of pre-fabricated parts with the minimum use of tools or skill.
In accordance with the invention there is provided a cooking stove comprising a plurality of vertical walls and a horizontal top plate enclosing an oven chamber said chamber being partly open at the bottom, the front and rear walls having 'lips' to embrace the side walls and tie rods which extend between the front and rear walls to engage and lock the side walls into a fixed relationship with the said front and rear walls, the vertical walls having support elements at their lower edges, and the oven chamber is located upon and supported by a heating unit.
Additional support elements are provided at the upper ends of the vertical oven defining walls and a second heating unit may be located above the oven top plate.
The heating elements may comprise a freestanding apertured hob and a fuel burner located underneath the hob.
The stove may be arranged to operate on a variety of fuels, but for ease of understanding, embodiments of the invention will be described solely by way of example in the accompanying drawings in relation to a gaseous fuel.
In the drawings Figure 1 is an exploded perspective view of a gas cooking stove, Figure 2 is a front perspective view of the cooking stove of Figure 1, as assembled but with the oven door removed, and Figure 3 is a front perspective view of the self contained oven portion of the cooking stove, as assembled and complete with the oven door.
Referring to the drawings and specifically to Figure 1,the oven section of the cooking stove comprises a front panel 1 and back panel 2, the panels each having their side edges 3 bent to embrace side panels 4. The front, side and back panels are held together by two tie rods 5 and locked in position by tightening the wing nuts 6 on the tie rods. A perforated shelf is arranged to fit within and rest upon the tie rods 6 and the front panel is provided with lips 8 to support and hold a lift-off oven door 9.
The top of the oven section is closed by a plate 10 which rests upon support elements 11 attached to the upper inner edges of the front, side and back panels.
Additional support elements 12 screwed to the lower inside edges of the front, side and back panels allow the oven section to rest upon a rectangular heating unit 13.
The heating unit comprises a free-standing apertured hob provided with a gas ring type burner 14. A gas supply to the burner is controlled by an associated gas supply control cock 15.
A deflector plate 16 is located within the oven chamber, is shaped to rest upon the top of the heating unit and deflect combustion products from the ring burner around the inside of the oven chamber.
A second heating unit identical to that already described may be placed on the top of the oven assembly to provide additional cooking facilities, the support elements 11 being dimensioned to securely locate the lower edges of the unit.
Figure 2 illustrates the stove in its assembled form, but with the door removed.
1. A cooking stove comprising a plurality of vertical walls and a horizontal top plate enclosing an oven chamber, said chamber being partly open at the bottom, the front and rear walls having lips to embrace the side walls the tie rods which extend between the front and rear walls to engage and lock the side walls into a fixed relationship with the said front and rear walls, the vertical walls having support elements at their lower edges wherein the oven chamber is located upon and supported by a heating unit.
2. A cooking stove according to Claim 1, wherein support elements are provided at the upper ends of the vertical oven defining walls and a second heating unit is located above the oven top plate.
3. A cooking stove according to Claim 1 or Claim 2, wherein the heating unit comprises a freestanding apertured hob and a fuel burner located underneath the hob.
4. A cooking stove substantially as hereinbefore described with reference to Figure 2 of the accompanying drawings.
5. A cooking stove substantially as hereinbefore described with reference to Figure 1 and Figure 3 of the accompanying drawings.
