Abstract

1358777 Multijet atomospheric burners JOH VAILLANT KG 20 June 1972 [19 Feb 1972] 28877/72 Heading F4T A gas-filled multi-jet atmospheric burner comprises a row of mixing tubes 32 formed by corresponding impressions in two interconnected half-shells of sheet metal 28, 30, Fig. 2, which define a distribution chamber 40 into which all the tubes 32 discharge, and a plurality of parallel burner tubes 48, each having a multiplicity of flame ports 62 and extending transverse to the row of tubes 32. Fuel gas from a supply pipe 14 discharges from nozzles 18 on a pipe 16 into the mixing tubes 32, the unit 26 comprising tubes 32, 48 and chamber 40 being held in slots in holders 24 on pipe 16 by threaded fasteners 46, and nozzles 18 being centred relative to tubes 32 by pins 20 engaging in cylindrical recesses each formed by co-operating semi-cylindrical impressions in half-shells 28, 30. The tubes 48 are horizontal and have a vertically elongated rectangular section. The tubes 48 may have U-shaped apertures 50 by means of which they straddle the chamber 40, communicating therewith by orifices 54, 56. Alternatively the chamber 40 may have apertures at its top into which tubes 48 fit, apertures (65), Fig. 3 (not shown), in tubes 48 providing communication with chamber 40. The half-shells 28, 30 meet in a vertical plane of contact and may be interconnected by folded seams, such as 60, or may be formed from a single sheet folded in two at a location corresponding to seam 60. The pipe 14 may be located between two units like 26, Fig. 1, supported on a single pipe 16, Fig. 5 (not shown), or may extend through a lengthwise central aperture (68) in the unit 26 between two adjacent tubes 32, Fig. 4 (not shown).
