1385248 Sink and waste fittings AUBIT PLASTICS Ltd 25 Jan 1973 [8 Feb 1972] 5686/72 Heading A4N [Also in Division El ] A waste fitting and trap assembly for sinks &c. comprises a member 6, connected to a sink 1 by means of a screw 4 and nut 5 supported by spider member 6b and clamping the sink between member 6 and an outlet component 3, to receive the outflow through an aperture 1a in the bottom of the sink, and a tap 8 connected between the member 6 and a waste pipe 2, so that, in one embodiment, member 6 is provided with a tubular portion slidably receivable in an aperture of the trap, said trap being positioned adjustably lengthwise of the tubular portion to permit adjustment to conform to the dimension between the sink and the waste pipe, the member b and the trap 8 being assembled in a liquid-tight manner. The base 8a of trap 8 is chamfered internally at its open end 8b and threaded externally, and a resilient sealing ring 10 of triangular cross-section is received in the chamfered open end. A nut 11 engaged on the external thread on the end 8b compresses the sealing ring 10 to make the liquid-tight connection when the members 6 and 8 are in selected relative positions. A similar clamping arrangement enables the waste pipe 2 to be connected with the trap 8 by means of the nut 12 and sealing ring 13 in a portion 8e. The fitting is made of plastics except for the component 3, which may be a strainer, the screw 4 and the nut 5. A pipe 14 leading from member 6 acts as an overflow from the trap 8. Alternatively a tubular extension on the trap may slidably engage an aperture in the member 6.
