Abstract

1385238 Valves PONT-A-MOUSSON SA 2 May 1972 [4 May 1971 31 March 1972] 20301/72 Heading F2V A gate valve having a valve body 1 comprising a conduit having a generally cylindrical flow surface 7 and a wedge-shaped gate 2 is provided with a seal 28 in the form of a ring adapted to bear sealingly against a seat surface 26 formed in the valve body, which seat is a continuous surface of progressively varying shape with substantially helical lateral portions. Embodiments disclose seat surfaces with an angle to the axis of the spindle 14 varying between 20 and 90 degrees. The gate may be provided with a seal on each side with corresponding seat surface, the seal and seat may be joined at the bottom. The gate is provided with ribs and the body with grooves or vice versa to guide the gate. The bottom portion of the conduit may be flush or the middle portion may form a projection or a cavity.
