Abstract

1384857 Projectile fuzes MANUFACTURE DE MACHINES DU HAUT-RHIN SA 18 July 1973 [20 July 1973] 34149/73 Heading F3A A projectile fuze comprises: a centrifugal rotor 18, Fig. 1, carrying a detonator 14; a striker 40 locking the rotor in a safe position; and at least one rod 44 which under the action of centrifugal force, pivots at one end to lift the striker out of locking engagement with the rotor, and, thereafter, releases the striker so that it can be driven into the aligned detonator. The striker is driven into the detonator by impact or by a spring 38 if the force of the spring overcomes the centrifugal force maintaining balls 34 against an inclined surface 54. In an embodiment of a fuze which is actuated by impact only, the spring loading is removed from the striker 40 by engagement of the displaced lever 44 with a sleeve 56, Fig. 6, surrounding the striker.
