1384658 Making sintered steels ELEKTROMETALLURGIE mbH GES FUR 2 Feb 1973 [2 Feb 1972] 5384/73 Headings C7A and C7D A sintered, carbide containing, steel is made by (a) forming, by melt metallurgy, a ferro alloy comprising:- with optional additions of one or more of B 0-0À02%, S 0-0À2% and N 0-5%, the balance being Fe; b) powdering the ferro alloy; c) mixing the ferro alloy powder with ductile iron powder (which may contain up to 15% thereof of Ni and/ or Co); and d) compacting and sintering the mixture. The steels may be high speed or tool steels.
