Abstract
1384653 Projectile fuzes SAAB-SCANIA AB 24 Nov 1972 [25 Nov 1971] 54461/72 Heading F3A A percussion fuze comprises a rotor 2 housing a detonator 14, a pin 7 extending through a housing 1 and into a recess 8 in the rotor to hold the detonator 14 out of alignment with a striker (not shown), a plate 6 located in a recess 5 to retain the pin 7 in its locking position, and a spring-loaded pin 9 extending into a hole 11 in the plate 6 to retain the plate in the recess 5. Upon firing a projectile fitted with the fuze, the pin 9 sets back due to inertia and the plate 6 moves out of the recess 5 under the action of centrifugal forces. Owing to the shape of the pin 7 and the recess 8, the pin is axially displaced out of engagement with the rotor under the action of centrifugal forces acting on the rotor. The rotor thereafter rotates to align the detonator 14 with the striker (not shown).
