Abstract

1384527 Kettles OTTER CONTROLS Ltd and J C TAYLOR 31 Jan 1972 [5 Feb 1971] 4067/71 Addition to 44460/69 Heading A4A [Also in Division H5] The immersion heater of the parent Specification is modified by positioning the steam tube 3 within an enclosure 100 which forms a steam trap extending below water level in use. The steam trap enclosure 100 may be secured to the heating element Fig.9 (not shown), to the head of the immersion heater, or as shown to the steam tube 3. The enclosure 100 may be of metal e.g. copper or brass, plastics e.g. polycarbonate or reinforced rubber e.g. neoprene. The enclosure is shown fitted to tube 3 by three radial webs 103 provided with shoulders 104 to space the closed end of the enclosure from the inlet of tube 3. An anti-syphone vent 105 is provided in the enclosure 100. The steam sensitive switch actuated by steam from tube 3 may be mounted in a sealed compartment in a socket mains connector, the tube 3 also serving as an earth terminal.
