Abstract

1382887 Thiazole-5-carboxylic acid esters ROUSSEL UCLAF 14 June 1972 [14 June 1971] 27893/72 Heading C2C Novel compounds I in which m and n are 0-5; n<SP>1</SP> is 1-5 and R is (X 1 )(X 2 )-C 6 H 3 - m which X 1 and X 2 are H, Cl, Br, I, 1-6C alkyl, 1-6C alkoxy which may be substituted by a diethylamino group or by up to three F atoms, or trihalomethyl or R is a heterocyclic ring with up to 6 nuclear atoms, and their salts with acids are prepared by reacting compounds II or their functional derivatives with alcohols III or alkali metal derivatives thereof. # - [4 - (o,o<SP>1</SP> - Dimethylphenyl) - piperazinyl)- ethanol, # - [4 - ( m - trifluoromethylphenyl)- piperazinyl] - ethenol and # - [4 - (o - ethoxyphenyl) - piperazinyl] - ethanol are prepared by reaction of ethylene oxide with the appropriate N-(substituted phenyl)-piperazine. Pharmaceutical compositions for oral, rectal or parenteral administration as vasodilators in treating hypertension and migraine comprise a compound I together with a suitable excipient.
