Abstract

1382677 Electric couplings WARD & GOLDSTONE (AUTO & AIRCRAFT EQUIPMENT) Ltd 12 Feb 1973 [3 March 1972] 9951/72 Heading H2E A connector 1, is secured to an electric cable 8 by, e.g. crimping at sleeve portion 2, and comprises a shoulder 4 which abuts a terminal post 5, through a hole 6 in which passes a threaded shank 3. In another embodiment (Fig. 4, not shown) the aperture 6 and shank 3 may be tapered. In another embodiment, Fig. 5, connector 9 comprises sleeve portion 10, through which passes a circular aperture, whose axis intersects, and may be perpendicular to, the axis of shank 11, but may be at any angle thereto, and a cable is secured thereto. The shoulder 4 may be, e.g. circular, or any polygonal shape provided that it does not pass through the aperture, which may be of differing sizes to correspond to a positive and negative terminal. The corresponding shanks are therefore identified, but may be prevented from accidental electrical contact with the wrong terminal by an insulating tip or cap.
