Abstract
1381901 Repeaters KPKUSAI DENSHIN DENWA KK 25 Jan 1972 [25 Jan 1971 19 March 1971 14 April 1971] 3383/72 Heading H4R A repeater amplifier is included within the diameter of a coaxial cable and is embedded in the insulation between the inner and outer tubular conductors. An unreflective section of wave absorbing material is provided in the insulation and the amplifier is powered by D.C. appearing across a cut in one of the conductors. As shown the outer conductor is cut and separated by insulator 8 which lies between unreflective areas 5-1, 5-2. An amplifier is powered by the voltage appearing across capacitor 6 which is connected between the ends of conductor 2 and the signals are passed through high-pass filters 13, 13a for one direction and lowpass filters 15, 15a for the other direction of transmission. The sections 5-1, 5-2 formed by loading the insulating material with conductive material or magnetic material provide a large alternation of the signal which, together with capacitor 7, prevents interference between terminations 9, 9a; 10, 10a. The filters and amplifier units may be encased in rubber 16 to improve flexibility of the cable. In a modification the inner conductor may carry the power supply and be cut or alternatively if the straining wires la are cut a system of branched conductors may be used to provide mechanical strength. In a further modification the unreflective section may be achieved by providing a layer of resistive and magnetic material on the conductors, Fig. 9 (not shown).
