Abstract

1381612 Drying webs DRABERT SOHNE 15 Feb 1972 [21 June 1971] 6876/72 Heading F4G [Also in Division B8] A web winding apparatus for forming a roll of a textile material web 12 with its convolutions spaced by a runner 1 comprises roller 5 over which the runner 1 is fed to the roll at position A, and a drier 7, the roller being movable from a position 5a in which the runner is spaced from the drier to a position 5b in which it is locked by locking means to feed the runner closely past the drier. A previously wound roll at position A is transported to a decatizing boiler B and thence via a suction point C to an unwinding point D. The decatized textile web 9 is unwound on to a belt 10 to a zig-zag piler whilst the runner 1 is threaded past roller 5 initially in position 5a through rollers 6, 4, spreader rod 3 and a suction feed table 2 which cools the dried runner, to an empty decatizing cylinder 13a together with a new web 12 to be decatized. The roller 4 is constantly urged towards the roll periphery. Roller 5 is then moved to the 5b position, e.g. by mechanical, pneumatic or hydraulic means along an arcuate or linear path to cause the steamed runner to pass the drier which may be embossed heated plates or infra red radiators. When winding is complete the roll is removed and arms 15 are moved to bring the empty cylinder 13d to the winding position A. The drier 7 may be movable with the roller 5.
