Abstract

1406584 Finishing fabrics M MONTI 26 March 1973 [20 March 1972] 14324/73 Heading D1S [Also in Division B6] A machine for finishing an open width textile fabric 2 comprises (a) a pair of widthspreading rollers 20; (b) a pair of feed rollers 3; (c) a selvedge uncurling device 4, (d) two pinstenter chains 7 to grip the fabric selvedges and which pass around toothed wheels 57, 58; (e) two rotary brushes 6 for feeding the fabric onto the chains 7; (f) a belt conveyor 8 of heat-resistant polyester fibres and disposed below the fabric 2; (g) a device 5 for overfeeding the fabric onto the belt 8; (h) a vapour treating apparatus comprising a pivotable hood 9, a vapour inlet 17 and a condensate discharging outlet 16, the hood being provided internally with heat sources and connected to a suction apparatus Fig 6; (i) at least one heatfixing zone each enclosed by a pivotable hood 10 provided internally with infra-red lamps 62, Fig 4, and connected to the suction apparatus 61, (j) a calendering cylinder 12 heated internally by oil-immersed electrical resistances and against which the fabric 2 is maintained by a felt 21; (k) a drying cylinder 13 connected to a suction device (70), Fig 8 (not shown) and against which the fabric is maintained by a felt 21'; and (1) a folding or laying device 14. The rollers 5 comprise threaded cylindrical bars. The spacing between the chains 7 may be adjusted manually or automatically by two feelers. The overfeed of the fabric may be different for each selvedge to prevent any skewing or bowing of the weft threads. The hoods 9, 10 are liftable pneumatically about their pivots upon actuation. of push buttons when an emergency occurs. The felts 21, 21' guided around the cylinders 12, 13, respectively, are tensioned by rollers 68, 72. After leaving the cylinder 13, the fabric is tensioned by a roller 73 before passing to the device 14. In a modification. Fig 11, whilst passing around the cylinder 12, the fabric 2 is heat printed by sublimation by passing paper 76 carrying a sublimatable dyestuff between the fabric 2 and the cylinder 12. The paper 76 is unwound from a roll 75 and passes over rollers 77 between which operates a transverse cutting device comprising a manually operated slider 79 carrying a cutting disc 81 which co-operates with a cross bar 78. The paper 76 is tensioned by a cylinder 82 rotatable in blocks 83 acted on by springs 85 controlled by handwheels 86.
