Abstract

1380527 Laminated products R CARVELL and R A ANDREWS 1 March 1973 9977/73 Heading B5N [Also in Division E1] A building panel comprises a timber frame, wooden sheet material or plasterboard secured to and closing one face of the frame and formed synthetic resin insulating material in the cavity or cavities thereby formed, the other face of the frame being such that liquid can freely evaporate from the insulating material. The foam may be retained in place by means of cotton scrim straps fixed to the frame by staples, a net, or a moisture pervious web. In particular the panel may comprise a sheet of plasterboard or plywood, optionally provided with a layer of waterproof material, a timber frame having head, base and side plates and also a number of cross-members extending across the board and urea-formaldehyde foam in the cavities formed by the cross-members and plates of the frame. A further layer 22 of plasterboard (optionally together with metal foil) or a second wooden board may be applied to the other side of the frame after curing of the foam has been completed. The board 8 and cover sheet 20, or the plasterborad having a cover sheet on its face adjacent the frame, may have tile-hanging battens 24 nailed thereto for the fixing of tiles 26. When placed adjacent a brick wall 28, the panel may have an aluminium drip-plate 30 secured thereto.
