Abstract

1377189 Prestressing concrete HOLLANDSCHE BETON GROUP NV 2 March 1972 [5 March 1971] 6197/71 Heading B5A Moulding apparatus for making prestressed concrete articles comprises steel mould walls 5, a steel mould plate 1, and a plurality of support beams 2. Each end of a plurality of prestressing elements 3 is attached to an associated lever 6, or a single elongate lever joins adjacent ends. The levers 6 are attached to the beams 2 and bear on the mould plate 1; attachment comprises a shaft 8, or bolts and chamfered washers (see Fig. 8, not reproduced), that allows a slight rocking movement. The end of a prestressing element 3 is anchored by conical jaws or a collar 7 received in a housing 18 attached to a lever 6 by a stem 17. The force-applying means are not disclosed but tension can be slowly released by a lockable nut 19 thrusting on a lever 6 through a bearing (26) (Figs. 7, 8, not reproduced). Flexure and stiffness are controlled by struts 15, (16) (Fig. 4, not reproduced), between the beams 2. The beams 2 and plate 1 are relatively movable longitudinally under the stressing forces, and are dry-greased with PTFE. The elements 3 comprise wires, cables, rods or bars and after the concrete has cured, their ends are burned or ground away after removing the mould walls 5.
