Abstract

137,698. Garrett, R. E. April 2, 1919. Attachments for milling; gearcutting.-In a lathe attachment for milling, particularly for hobbing worm-wheels or cutting spur or bevel wheels, and having a jointed telescopic driving-shaft 3, the bracket 7 is adjustable by unclamping the nuts 9, 11, so as to allow of adjustment of the change-speed wheels E<1>, Ea, E<b>. The cutter is carried by the lathe spindle F. The blank 25 is mounted on a spindle 24, preferably tapered, and carrying an index plate 19, next to which the worm-wheel 21, engaging the worm 13, is mounted. The worm 13 is carried in an overhung housing 15 attached to a bracket on the head carrying the spindle 24, which head is adjustably mounted on the vertical slide 26 and the cross-slides of the lathe.
