Abstract
1376598 Fuseible cut outs ENGLISH ELECTRIC CO Ltd 22 Feb 1972 [11 Dec 1970] 58897/70 Heading H2G A fuselink comprises a tubular body 1 (Fig. 2), e.g. of ceramic, having metal end caps 2 and 3, e.g. of brass, which are a friction fit on the body. Elements 10 are connected to the end caps, e.g. by spot welding, arc welding or soldering, and may have transverse grooves to adjust their electrical characteristics. Discs 12 and 13, e.g. of steel, retain a filling material (not shown), such as quartz within the tubular body 1. The discs are retained by deforming the end caps, e.g. by peening over parts of the, or the entire edges of the recessed end portions. The discs can also be soldered, e.g. in an R.F. field. Additional securing of the discs can be achieved by making them of dished shape, and deforming the crown of each dish to cause the edges of the disc to bite into the inner walls of the recess of the end cap.
