Abstract

1375804 Machining guards; securing grinding wheels on shafts CENTRO-MASKIN I GOTEBORG AB 14 Feb 1973 [14 Feb 1972] 7241/73 Headings F2J and F2U A fixed grinding wheel hood 13 welded to a bearing case 1 of a machine frame (not shown) has an end plate 15 axially spaced from a grinding wheel 19 and formed with an opening 18 which, in service, is covered or closed by a projection 10 of a flanged sleeve 6 forming part of a clamp securing the grinding wheel 19 to a driving shaft 2, the projection 10 sealing the opening 18 to prevent pieces of grinding wheel being flung out in the event of the grinding wheel bursting. The grinding wheel 19 is clamped between the flanged sleeve 6 and a further flanged sleeve 5 by removable screws 11, the sleeve 5 being retained on a tapered driving shaft 2 by a nut 12, such that removal and/or replacement of the wheel 19 is readily effected by removal of the sleeve 6 via opening 18, the spaced end plate 15 facilitating removal &c. of the wheel 19, as shown chain dotted.
