Abstract
1375763 Boilers KRAFTWERK UNION AG 7 Sept 1972 [7 Sept 1971] 41662/72 Heading F4A In a boiler having a combustion chamber wall and at least one partition 4 formed as tube assemblies, the inlet of the partition tubes is connected to the inlet of the wall tubes and the outlet of the partition tubes is connected between the inlet and the outlet of the wall tubes; a valve 10 being provided to regulate the rate of flow through the partition tubes to maintain the outlet temperatures of the wall tubes and partition tubes at predetermined values. In the embodiment shown a helical wall tube assembly 51 is employed for approximately two-thirds of the boiler wall and vertical tubes 54 then continue from a distributer pipe 53; the outlet of tubes 4 feeding into pipe 53. A further control valve 9 is employed at the inlet to the wall tubes and, as disclosed in Specification 1,374,835, a control device (not shown) can operate the valves 9, 10 in response to the outlet temperatures of, and flow rates through the wall and partition tubes to ensure that the enthalpy of steam at the partition tube outlet is the same as that at the distributer pipe 53 to ensure satisfactory mixing of the two steam flows.
