1374887 Threshing equipment DEERE & CO 11 Oct 1972 [12 Oct 1971] 46879/72 Heading A1F Straw shaking equipment for use in threshing machines allows freedom for the sieve linings 13, 14, 15 to slide through a limited stroke parallel to the walls of the straw shaker section 10. When the straw shaker section is given a rotary movement by the crank shafts 11 and 12, the sieve linings will perform an oscillatory motion with respect to and along the length of the shaker section walls due to their inertia. In one embodiment, Fig. 4, the sieve lining 15 is guided by a pair of rails 21, preferably of low friction material, running in guides 22 attached to the straw shaker section 10. The sieve lining is prevented from jumping out of its guides either by rail 24 running in an elongated slot 25, or, in an alternative method by rail 27 attached to the underside of the sieve lining 15. The longitudinal movement is limited in one embodiment by buffers 18 at the ends of the guides 17. Other embodiments show alternative ways of guiding using either rollers in place of the guide rails 21 or, as shown in Fig. 7 rods 35 attached to the ends of the sieve linings and also alternative ways of limiting the stroke, using either helical compression springs in place of the buffers 18, or, as shown in Fig. 7, buffers 18 attached to the end of the rods.
