Abstract

1374536 Brake-spinners VYZKUMNY USTAV BAVLNARSKY 2 March 1972 [5 March 1971] 9723/72 Heading DID The. rotating chamber of a brake spinner has a slip wall 13 which diverges away from the intake 12, a step or drop wall 14 and a yarn takeoff wall 15 which converges towards a base 16, the base having a shank 11 by which the chamber is rotated and through which the stationary yarn withdrawal tube 23 passes, the amount by which it protrudes into the chamber being adjustable. Draw-off wall 15 and plane 18 passing through the transition of drop wall 14 into wall 15 include an angle of 40‹ to 70‹, drop wall 14 and plane 18 include an angle of -30‹ to +20‹ and preferably the transition between walls 14, 15 occurs over a curve of radius 0.1mm to 1.8mm and the ratio of the lengths of walls 14, 15 is in the ratio of 1:1.1 to 1:8. The chamber may operate at sub-atmospheric pressure. Fibres 6 are carried by air through a channel 31 in closure and are moved by centrifugal force along slip wall 13 to form a sliver 61 in the angle between walls 14, 15 with an approximately triangular cross section. The ratio of the short side a lying on drop wall 14 to longer side b lying on draw-off wall 15 is from 1:1.5 to 1:5. The sliver is drawn off wall 15 into tube 23, the greater speed of wall 15 and the frictional force it exerts twists the sliver into a yarn 62 that is removed by discharge rollers 41, 42.
