Abstract
1446027 Open end spinning: false-twisting within rotor M SHINO 8 Aug 1973 [11 Aug 1972 (2)] 37671/73 Heading DID In open end spinning, fibres are withdrawn from an inlet by a rotational air stream and centrifugal force due to rotor rotation, unseparated withdrawn fibres are separated, and the fibres are then deposited in parallel condition on. an upper inner rotor wall, the fibres are sucked down the wall, while remaining parallel, to a maximum inner diameter portion of the rotor, and the fibres are collected at the portion, drawn over a member spaced from the portion which provides a friction surface to false twist the fibres between the portion and the member, and the fibres are drawn into a yarn outlet leading from the rotor. Opened fibres S, Fig. 1, are drawn from tube 4. are deposited on surface 1a of rotor 1, and slide down the surface to collecting portion a. Fibres collected at portion a are withdrawn over rotor surfaces 1b, over fixed, annular friction surface 5a and through tube 3. Fibres are said to be separated before deposition on surface 1 due to the inclination of the surface and its spacing from tube 4. The angle of surface 1a is preferably 70 to 80 with respect to a plane normal to the rotor axis. Member 5 is of rubber or plastics material, and surface 5a may be grooved. Surface 5a may be located below extension L of surface 1b, Fig. 3. Air is sucked downwards and through rotor ports 6. The rotor may have the form shown in Fig. 4.
