Abstract
1,200,355. Break spinning apparatus. TORAY INDUSTRIES Inc. and HOWA MACHINERY Ltd. 15 Aug., 1967 [18 Aug., 1966; 22 March, 1967; 19 April, 1967; 22 May, 1967; 5 June, 1967; 4 July, 1967; 12 July, 1967 (6)], No. 37443/67. Heading D1D. Bundles of fibres 2 from supply rollers 9, 9' are pneumatically shredded in device 10 which then directs the individual fibres onto the inside wall of rotor 13. Compressed air is introduced into chamber 12 creating a negative pressure in supply pipe 10' which causes a bundle of fibres to be sucked into pipe 10', the compressed air then flowing down delivery pipe 10 and the jet effect thereof causing individual fibres to be drawn out of the bundle as it leaves the supply pipe 10 (31, Fig. 8). Length L does not exceed the average fibre length. The delivery pipe may flare outwardly with angle of flare # in range 5 to 30‹, or may have a plurality of air inlets 39, 40, 41 and air outlets 42 in its end portion. Two or more such pneumatic devices may feed fibres to a common rotor. To increase the number of twists imparted to a unit length of yarn the lower inside wall of the rotor may be roughened, or have one or more projections 100 (Figure 27B) on it and be apertured at 104, or alternatively an elastic twist controller in the form of an insert in the hollow tube connected to the central rotor outlet may be provided. The fibre receiving surface 62 of the rotor (Fig. 27B) may be stepped and may include more than one annular roughened portion. The yarn withdrawn from the rotor may be stretched by heating or by passing it between two successive pairs of rollers which rotate at different speeds.
