Abstract
1373137 Sectional boiler, radiator or other heat exchanger WEMAC 8 Dec 1971 57038/71 Headings F4A and F4S A sectional boiler, radiator, or other heat exchanger comprises a plurality of sections 11, 11a, which have openings 20, 21 through which a fluid to be heated passes, and which are held adjacent by tie rods (not shown), with the openings aligned; an annular deformable seal means 22 is placed around the openings and rigid means 23, shown as an annular ring engaged in recesses 24, 25, limits the axial compression of the seal means when the tie rods are tightened, and prevents lateral shifting of the sections with respect to one another. The seal means consists of any compound which may be formed into a flexible seal and which will deform slightly to make the joint fluid-tight, e.g. rubber, synthetic rubber compounds or thermoplastic compounds. In a further embodiment (Fig. 5, not shown) the rigid means comprise pin members fitting into sockets in the sections.
