Abstract
1317983 Making heat exchangers; jointing KIMURA KOOKI KK 23 July 1970 [25 Nov 1969] 35735/70 Headings B3A and B3Q [Also in Division F4] A heat exchanger tube 1 is expanded to engage the edge of a hole in a plate 2 by sealing a thermally expandable liquid in the tube 1 and heating the tube. An assembly of tubes 1 and plates 2 are first degreased whereupon the tubes 1 are connected together by pipe bends 3 and valves 12 1 and 12 2 fitted to the tube ends. After filling and sealing the tube with water the assembly is moved through a hot air furnace at a temperature of 135-250‹C to cause the steam produced to expand the tube. The valves 12 1 and 12 2 are subsequently removed. Each plate 2 has triangular shaped louvres (13) (Fig. 5, not shown) or semi-spherical dimples (15) (Fig. 7, not shown) connected by slits (16).
