Abstract

1371948 Cast iron W H MOORE and H H KESSLER 29 Feb 1972 9297/72 Heading C7A A wear-resistent white cast iron comprises, in weight per cent:- the combined Mn + Cr content being at least 15% and the balance being iron, impurities and incidental ingredients. The total amount of impurity and incidental ingredients should not exceed 5 per cent being made up of elements such as Ni, Mo, W, V, Cu, P and S. The cast iron possesses a substantially austenitic structure contaning both orthorhombic and trigonal carbides of manganese and chromium and is particularly suited for wear-andabrasion-resistant castings, e.g. for grinding and crushing purposes.
