Abstract

137,176. Taylor A., and Taylor, H. D. March 8, 1919. Reflectors.-A front-silvered plane mirror M, used in copying drawings, reducing maps, &c., is mounted in an air-tight casing B, plane-parallel glass windows w being provided through which the central ray passes normally. The mirror is held between three pairs of pallets 3, 4, 5, each pallet being flat on the surface pressing on the mirror, but hollowed out on its other face to receive the ends 6 of screws or pins. The screws at the back secure the mirror to a supporting-plate b, and the pins in front are spring-urged so that the mounting allows of thermal expansion. A rubber ring r, which can be screwed down on to the supporting-plate, also makes for flexible mounting for the mirror and for the windows. An air-tight box in the bottom of the chamber holds chemicals intended to absorb water vapour or sulphuretted hydrogen, either of which might tarnish the silvered surface. The mirror may be mounted in accordance with the method described in Specification 7392/10. A lens or camera may be attached to the casing.
