Abstract

1371384 Gas discharge panels OWENSILLINOIS Inc 8 Sept 1971 [8 Sept 1970] 41819/71 Heading B2E [Also in Division H1] The dielectric charge storage surfaces of a cross-bar address discharge panel are coated first with a layer of an oxide of at least one of Al, Ti, Zr, Hf and Si and then with a layer of lead oxide. The layers may each be 100-10,000 Angstroms thick. At least one oxide may be formed in situ, e.g. by oxidation of the element. The invention is said to reduce and stabilise the operating voltages of the panel. The oxide layers may be applied by plasma or electric arc spraying, dry spraying, spraying a solution or suspension, sputtering, or vacuum deposition.
