Abstract

1408593 Gas discharge display panels OWENS-ILLINOIS Inc 23 Aug 1972 [23 Aug 1971] 39270/72 Heading H1D The memory margin of a gas discharge panel comprising an ionizable gaseous medium in a gas chamber formed by a pair of opposed dielectric material charge storage members is optimized by providing a gas filling having a pressure of 680 to 160 torr. and consisting predominantly of neon and 0À02 to 0À1% atoms of argon, said pressure and said argonconcentration beingcorrelated in accordance with the shaded portion of the drawing, and operating the panel with square wave A.C. voltages at a frequency of 1 to 200 kHz. The filling may contain small amounts of other gases, e.g. helium.
