Abstract

1370492 Delivering measured quantities FARBWERKE HOECHST AG 20 Dec 1971 [18 Dec 1970] 59085/71 Heading B8N [Also in Division B1] A measured charge of liquid or powder is delivered under relatively high pressure from storage container 3, Fig. 1, to reactor 8 by (a) causing piston 2 to be raised so that the powder or liquid can flow into constriction 1 to form the measured charge, (b) lowering the piston to allow the measured charge to pass into chamber 4, (c) lifting piston 2 to allow the charge to fall down channel 5 into channel 6, Fig. 2, whereupon (d) gas which is inert in the reaction in reactor 8 and is at a pressure source atmospheres greater than the pressure in reactor 8 is introduced from valve 15, Fig. 1, to blow the charge into reactor 8 and (e) piston 7 is moved to the left to move any remaining charge into the reactor. Suction channel 13 normally prevents gases from reaching chambers 3 and 4, however, should a blow back occur, chamber 4 protects the contents of chamber 3.
