Abstract

1369672 Seals IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd 25 Jan 1972 [8 Feb 1971] 4123/71 Heading D1L [Also in Division F2] A seal in a textile treatment apparatus comprises a rigid member 3 and a resilient member 1 defining a slot through which a textile web 6 may be passed, the members 1, 3 being held in engagement with the web 6 by the resilience of the member 1. The seal may be adjusted for differing web thicknesses by means of shims 5 inserted between the member 1 and a support 2, and the member 3 preferably has a convex surface. The members 1, 3 are preferably of metal, e.g. stainless steel or titanium, although the resilient member 1 may be of plastics. A roller may be incorporated in the sealing surface of one or both members 1, 2 to reduce friction.
