Abstract

1,106,128. Flexible hinges. IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. 15, Dec., 1964 [17, Dec., 1963], No. 49778/63. Heading E2F. A hinge is comprised of a one piece integral member 1 having a portion 4 of thinner cross section and about which the member can be flexed, and two edge portions 5, 6 on either side of portion 4, at least one of the edge portions being shaped to interlock with a complementary shaped recess in the edge of a door or like or a support therefor. As shown, the hinge is dovetailed with both the door 2 and its support 3, the edge of the door being rounded so that it may swing both ways. The hinge may extend the full height of the door, providing a draught excluder. One of the edge portions of the hinge may be attached by, for example, screws instead of the interlocking. Suitable materials for the hinge are polypropylene and nylon.
