Abstract

1369630 Lubrication of a die casting machine UBE INDUSTRIES Ltd 15 Dec 1971 [15 Dec 1970] 58309/71 Heading B3F In a die casting machine having a plunger 3 reciprocable in an injection cylinder, the plunger has at least two nozzles arranged to direct lubricant on to the surface of the injection cylinder and a passage extending longitudinally of the plunger for supplying lubricant to the nozzles. In the embodiment shown in Fig. 4 lubricant is supplied to nozzles 14 via passage 9 and compressed air supplied to the nozzles 14 via passage 27 so as to create a fine spray of oil directed towards the surface of the injection cylinder 1 during retraction of the plunger. The nozzles are located just behind an enlarged head portion 5 of the plunger and are interconnected by annular passages 29 and 30 for air and lubricant respectively.
