Abstract

1,063,499. Cams. ROBERT BOSCH G.m.b.H. Feb. 4, 1966 [Feb. 6, 1965], No. 4917/66. Heading F2K. [Also in Division F1] In an engine in which an oil gallery 16 is connected by separate passages to the oil reservoir 38 of an hydraulic tappet and to a feed opening in a push-rod socket 48, the reciprocating motion of the tappet causes oil to be fed intermittently to the feed opening for valve gear lubrication (see Division F1). When tappets 2<SP>1</SP>, 2, Fig. 2 (not shown), are reciprocated, the control grooves 21 ... 24 slide past gallery 16 which in all positions of the tappet remains connected to grooves 21, 23. The oil reservoir 38, which is joined to groove 23 via passages 47, 45 and 25 delivers oil via non- return valve 39 to a pressure chamber 31 so that piston 29 moves to the right in sleeve 27 to take up tappet clearance.
