Abstract

1369266 Change speed gear selector SOC ANON DE VEHICULES INDUSTRIELS ET D'EQUIPEMENTS MECHANIQUES 17 Jan 1972 [18 Jan 1971] 2220/72 Heading F2D A gear selector shaft 1 is provided with cams 3, 3<SP>1</SP>, 4, 4<SP>1</SP> to engage the heads of gear engaging slides and is moved longitudinally to position the appropriate cam opposite the desired slide which is actuated by the cam as the shaft is turned. A pin 7 is provided to prevent engagement of the highest transmission ratio directly after engagement of one of the lowest ratios i.e. without engagement of an intermediate ratio between the engagements. The pin 7 co-operates with cam surfaces 8, 11, 11<SP>1</SP>. With the pin 7 in the position shown and the shaft 1 in the longitudinal position to engage the lowest ratios V or VI the shaft has to be slid in the direction S to engage a higher ratio and the pin 7 comes into engagement with the cam surface 8 which prevents further sliding of the shaft 1 until an intermediate ratio III or IV has been engaged by turning the shaft which action causes the cam surface 8 to force the pin across the shaft into engagement with the cam surface 11. Further sliding in the direction S can now take place to engage the highest transmission ratios I or II. From the highest ratio the shaft can be slid directly opposite to direction S to engage the lowest ratios since the surface 14 cams the pin 7 back into engagement with the surface 11 so that full direct movement is not prevented.
