Abstract
1369260 Lamp holders W JOHNSON Jnr 22 Dec 1971 [28 Dec 1970] 59531/71 Heading H2E A coupling 50 retains a tubular fluorescent lamp 30 in a holder 10 and prevents axial movement. The coupling 50 is a push fit over the holder 10 and normally remains attached to it. One or more of the walls may be inwardly biased to produce a tighter fit. The coupling has a U-shaped opening 54 in its front wall, with a groove 55 and a ridge 52 which engage a ridge 33 and a groove 34 specially formed on the end of the lamp. The lamp is slid upwards into the holder and then rotated, in known fashion. In alternative embodiments the U-shaped opening 54 is reduced to a semicircle (Fig. 4, not shown) or opened out into a parallel-sided slot (Fig. 5, not shown). In another embodiment (Fig. 6, not shown), the coupling comprises only a rear wall and two forward-facing arms, which grip the holder 10 and are formed at their ends with ridges and grooves to engage the lamp. In another embodiment (Fig. 7, not shown) the coupling is formed integrally with the holder.
