Abstract
1368671 Treating oil pollution in sea water MO OCH DOMSJO AB 3 Oct 1972 [4 Oct 1971] 45565/72 Heading C1C [Also in Division C3] Fuel oil contamination of sea water is remedied by spraying with low-toxicity emulsifying agents of the formula wherein R denotes a C15-23 linear saturated or unsaturated aliphatic hydrocarbon radical, R1 denotes C1-6 alkyl, cycloalkyl or aryl, (CnH2nO) denotes an ethyleneoxy unit or a mixture of ethyleneoxy and propyleneoxy units provided that the number of propyleneoxy groups does not exceed 40% of the number of ethyleneoxy groups, and p denotes an integer of from 15 to 35, or solutions thereof in sea water or in ethylene or propylene glycols of M.W. 62 to 250 optionally mixed with water. Effective mixing may be obtained by use of the propeller of the boat from which spraying takes place.
