Abstract

1367992 Socket devices A M F Inc 9 April 1973 [1 May 1972] 20160/72 Heading E2B A socket device comprises a socket member 10 having abutment means 12 for engaging one face of a mounting plate, and two separate resilient securing members 30 respectively provided on two opposite sides of the socket member. Each member 30 is formed with at least one catch member 28 and the socket member is provided with depressions 17, 18 on the said opposite sides for receiving the catch members as they are deflected during entry of the socket member into an aperture formed in the mounting plate, the catch members being arranged to engage the other face of the plate when the socket member is in its mounted position in the aperture. As shown, the clips 30, Fig. 3, include a bridge portion 25 carrying resilient arms 27 terminating in pads 29 and are inserted in recesses 13 of the socket member so that the tongues 26 pass through openings 17', 18', the bridge portions 25 and the pads 29 respectively engaging in the recesses and grooves 14. Upon insertion of the socket member into the aperture the bridge portions are pressed towards the aperture so that the catches 28 spring through the aperture to be urged into contact with the plate, Fig. 4, upon release of pressure on the bridges.
