Abstract

In a disc brake pin(s) (14, 15) support pad backing plates (16). The pins are attached to the brake housing and engage the side of a hole (18) in the backing plate. As a result a resilient circumferential bias is applied to the backing plate relative to the disc. Drag forces are taken up by surfaces (8-11) on the housing. The pins may bias. The backing plates in one direction against the appropriate surfaces or each pin may exert bias in a different direction to centre the place between the surfaces. With a sliding yoke type of housing only the pad movable with the yoke is biased by the pins.
