Abstract

The disc brake uses converging pads (6) acting on a wheel integral disc, the pads being bonded to backing plates (5) which are mounted on thrust plates (4), and the assemblies held in a caliper body. The backing plates (5) are recessed flush into the thrust plates (4) and secured. The plates (5) may have bevelled vertical edges (9), located by wide dovetail section grooves in the thrust plate (4), and secured by lipped (11) and bolted retaining bars (10) to the top edge. Alternative details may use a half housing of the vertical edges, or square vertical edges may be used with a dovetailing effect applied to the horizontal edges and the bars (10).
