A braid 15 connects strip 10 to stop B which also acts as a terminal. In Fig. 3 (not shown) stop E is formed as a contact and co-operating strip projection 14 carries a contact so that a change-over switching action is provided. In the contactor shown in Fig. 4 plunger armature 22 is coupled to strip 10 by an insulating collar 24 which is biased upwards by springs 25. A bowed blade 29 holds the strip 10 against collar 24. An arc-chute assembly (33), 34 and blow out magnets (35, 36) are provided on opposite sides of strip 10.
