Abstract

136,554. Soc. Generale des Compteurs de Voitures (Taximetres). Oct. 7, 1918, [Convention date]. Driving machines.-In a drilling or like machine, the feed-driving mechanism, such as a worm-wheel 12, is coupled to the feed-sleeve 4 through wedges 10, which are pressed out of their operative position when the hand-feed shaft 1 is operated, by means such as the stops 17 on the sleeve 14 attached to the shaft 1. Further movement of these stops brings them into engagement with the sides of the recesses 9 in the sleeve 4, which is then actuated by the hand-gear. When the hand-gear is released, the wedges 10 are moved by springs 11 into engagement with the eccentric surfaces of the portion 8 of the sleeve 4, and the concentric surface of the wheel 12, which thus may drive the sleeve 4 in either direction. The shaft 1 may be turned either by a handle 2 or by a handle 19 mounted to rotate freely in a casing pivoted on the shaft 1, and geared by bevel-wheels 16, 20 to the sleeve 14. The stops 17 may be replaced by a pin fixed in a transverse hole in the shaft 1, the projecting ends of which engage the wedges.
