Abstract

1364911 Stuffer box crimper VEPA AG 26 July 1971 [10 Aug 1970 (2) 30 Oct 1970 21 Dec 1970 (3) 8 April 1971 10 April 1971 20 April 1971] 34908/71 Heading D1F A stuffer box crimper comprises two drivenrollers which are pressed together, and a stuffer box formed by two plates, one roller and one plate being so associated that the stuffer box volume is increased as the distance between the rollers is increased. In a first embodiment, Fig. 3, roller 2 and stuffer box plate 4 are both mounted on slidable bracket 13', roller 2 being pressed against roller 1 by pack 25. Plate 4 is supported on arm 14 mounted on bracket 13' for pivotal movement about the axis of roller 2. The extension of jack 9 pivots arm 14 and plate 4 towards stuffer box plate 5 to reduce the box volume. Retraction of jack 9 pivots plate 4 about pivot 7 on arm 14 to enable the plate to be cleaned. In a second embodiment, Fig. 4, plate 4 and roller 2 are supported on arm 13 which is pivoted about pivot 10 by jack 25 which also serves, via linkage 33, 8, to pivot plate 4 for cleaning about pivot 7. In a third embodiment, Fig. 7, roller 2 and plate 4 are supported on bracket 13 which is pivoted about pivot 16 by jack 25. Plate 4 is supported on arm 14 which is mounted on bracket 13 for pivotal movement by jack 23 about the axis of roller 2. Jack 23 is connected by rod 24 to the piston rod 11 of jack 25. Plate 4 is supported on arm 14 for pivotal movement about pivot 16. Plate 5 may be pivoted away from the rollers for clearing by jack 9 via pivoted arm 17.
