1364836 Inoculating cast iron MATERIALS & METHODS Ltd 1st July 1971 [2 July 1970] 32117/70 Addition to 1278265 Heading C7D [Also in Division B3] In a modification of the process described in Specification 1278265, according to which iron is supplied to a mould cavity through one or more intermediate chambers containing a spheroidizing agent, the latter is replaced by an inoculant and the cross-sectional area of the chamber measured transversely of the direction of metal flow is determined by the equation metal pouring rate = solution factor chamber cross-section the optimum value of solution factor for the particular addition agent in use being previously determined experimentally by a series of test castings.
