Abstract
1370330 Apparatus for vacuum casting PRECISION METALSMITHS Inc 7 Dec 1971 [28 May 1971] 40946/73 Divided out of 1370329 Heading B3F Apparatus for casting molten metal comprises a mould 120 having an opening 122 through which molten metal is introduced and gas-permeable walls 128, a chamber 66 for receiving such a mould, a pouring chamber 65 for introducing molten metal into the mould, and means for varying the pressure applied to the mould opening, and the pressure externally applied to the mould walls, the apparatus being so arranged that, in use, molten metal may be introduced from the pouring chamber into the mould in vacuo and, at least until molten metal in the mould has partially solidified, a vacuum may be applied externally to the mould walls whilst a higher pressure is applied to the mould opening. The apparatus is as described in Specification 1,370,329.
