Abstract

1364592 Universal pipette tip HELLER LABORATORIES 25 Aug 1972 [15 Sept 1971] 11738/73 Divided out of 1364591 Heading B1X [Also in Division Fl] A tip member for attachment to the inlet/ discharge ends of pipetting apparatuses which have different end diameters representative of different maximum capaoities, as described for example in Specification 1,364,591, comprises an elongate vessel 51 which may be of transparent plastics and has an internal bore which diverges from outlet orifice 53 to port 55, port 55 being for sealing engagement with the inlet/discharge end portion of a selected pipetting apparatus and the internal bore being divergent from the orifice to the connection port at a plurality of dissimilar taper angles. The vessel may have external volumetric graduation marks in the form of abrupt transitions 64 or gauge marks on its outer surface. The end of the pietting apparatus fits into the tip to an extent dependent on the maximum capacity of the pipetting apparatus and this may be indicated by colour coding on bands 30 and button 23.
